Get into the Routine: Skincare for Men
Look after your skin and it will serve you well. Fail to look after it properly and you risk incurring the ravages of age prematurely.
Modern men are just as fastidious about their skin as the ladies, who have been feeling the benefits of moisturising for centuries. What used to be frowned upon by apparent masculine men is now something that is embraced by all, and with good reason too. If you don’t look after your skin, it will quickly feel dry and dull, you will be more likely to experience breakouts and unsightly blackheads. Wrinkles will become the new normal and you will experience a much greater degree of sun damage. In short, not caring for your skin will show up badly pretty soon, so learn to clean up properly and work that moisturiser.
If you want to care for your skin properly, you need to start and follow a routine, so that means doing it every day, morning and night. That might sound tedious but do it for just a couple of weeks and you will quickly notice the difference in how healthy and vibrant your skin is. Regardless of being told not to, humans are very bad at judging books by covers and that goes for the people that you meet too. If you have healthy-looking skin, people you meet will remember you for that and they may even think you are a few year younger than you really are.
So, the end result sounds good, but how do you go about it?
Setting a routine takes time, so you need to make sure that you have time to do it. If you are prone to getting out of bed late in the mornings, throwing on clothes, food down your throat and rushing off to work, then you are probably not going to have the time that a good skincare routine really needs. If this describes you, maybe get up earlier! Ideally, a skincare routing needs repeating at the end of the day, so make sure that you have time then too.
In the morning follow these 3 simple steps:
Step 1: Clean your skin.
Use a good face wash to get into your pores. Start by wetting your face slightly so that it’s wet enough to just get your skin moist. Rub the facial cleanser into your hands until it develops a lather. This is really important because it’s the lather that activates the cleanser and helps it really get into your skin. You can then gently massage the lather into your skin, focusing on the forehead and below your eyes. Then rinse it off softly, patting your face with a clean, dry towel.
Step 2: Moisturise.
With your skin clean and dry, you can apply your moisturiser. Put a few dabs on your fingers and then start massaging it into your skin, gently using circular, upwards motions. If you pull the skin in a downward motion can lead to premature wrinkles and even saggy skin over time.
Step 3: Eye care.
Don’t forget to moisturise the delicate skin under your eyes with a separate, eye cream. Be very careful when applying this and make sure it’s fully absorbed.
In the evening, you are going to want to concentrate on the cleaning process, and get rid of all that accumulate dirt from the day, so you may want to go through the wash routine twice to make sure that your skin is really clean. You can also throw in a scrub in the evenings too, if you fancy it. And try applying a slightly heavier moisturising cream or balm too ,since you will be sleeping in it and it will have time to absorb in then.
If you look after your skin and it will stay in good condition for as long as you need it.
